Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Las Vegas would like to invite you to our first tea tasting to be held at our location inside the Miracle Mile Shops of Planet Hollywood on August 27th, beginning at 2:30pm.  The tasting will be hosted by our General Manager Allen and team member Marlene!  We’ll be featuring and exploring our Japanese Cherry and Moroccan Mint Teas.  Join us for this unique experience and step into the fascinating world of tea, and maybe win some prizes!

Getting ready for the new school year?  Going supply shopping this week?  Why not help your local Clark County Elementary Schools get ready at the same time!?  The Grant A Gift Autism Foundation and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf are teaming up to collect school supplies for the upcoming year.  You can download and print off a list of needed supplies here (School Supply List) and then just bring them to any Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf location.  The supplies will be delivered directly to local elementary schools like Moore Elementary, Beatty Elementary, and Gibson Elementary School, to name a few.  Help Las Vegas kids start their school year off right with the supplies they need!

Over the course of a two day period, Las Vegas Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf store managers had the amazing opportunity to go through a tea specialist training program taught by David DeCandia.

David is the Director of Tea for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and has become one of the world’s leading tea experts.  He’s the man solely responsible for the research, buying, blending and packaging of tea for CB&TL.  In addition, he’s been published in various international and national media publications and is a annual speaker at the World Tea Expo.  David’s passion for tea has also made a significant impact on the cultures surrounding the tea trade.

It was an exciting and fun time learning and sharing in David’s experiences.

Over the two day period our managers:

• Learned about the history and science of tea
• Explored the various regions in which tea grows
• Engaged in multiple tea cuppings to broaden our sensory evaluation and understand of tea
• Experienced the journey of tea from seed to our stores

You can look forward to an increased focus on tea in our stores from here on out.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your store’s manager!  They’re eager to share their new knowledge!

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Las Vegas is supporting the 10th Annual Buddy Walk of the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada (DSOSN).  The Buddy Walk is an advocacy walk developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to provide an annual platform for advocacy.

Buddy Walk Danglers are available for donation at all local Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf locations through August 29th.

The local Buddy Walk this year will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Kellog-Zaher Park, 7901 Washington in Las Vegas.

Activities planned will include:

• 1:00-3:00pm Registration

• 3:00-3:30pm Welcome and Introduction

• 3:30pm The Walk Begins!

• 4:00-5:00pm Raffle, prizes and awards

Throughout the event there will be ongoing fun, food and entertainment – including clowns, face painters, mascot characters, children’s games and music.

Pre-Registration for Individual Walkers is $20 and $40 for a family of four.  Event Day Registration is $25 for individuals and $50 for family of four.  Registration includes a Buddy Walk t-shirt and one food and drink voucher ticket.  Additional food will be available for sale.  Participates are encouraged to fundraise beyond the registration fee by asking all their friends, family, colleagues and businesses that they patronize for donations.  Incentive prizes are awarded based on fundraising levels.

The Green Valley View recently highlighted Barbara Deserocher’s new book “A Gift Called Michelle”. The book is about her daughter Michelle who battled Down Syndrome and overcame the odds. Michelle is now a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf employee at the District at Green Valley Ranch store. The book was highlighted in June as the book of the month.
